Puppet Animation vs Frame by Frame
Puppet Animation Vs Frame By Frame
What some people fail to realize, there are two different kinds of 2d animation, puppet animations and frame by frame, the differences are very easy to spot after you know the differences between them
Puppet animation
Puppet animation is the animation method that I recommend for starting animators. Its when you
draw every single individual layer of a character (head, eyes, ears, etc.) and convert the into
symbols. Onece you get everything set up, you put them all together to form your character. Then
throughout the animation you can move your symbols around as you progress through your
timeline.
Puppet animation makes you do more work before you start and then it's easier to do while the
actual movement is happening. For more in depth explanation/ a step by step guide on how toM make a puppet rig, please watch this video by Draw With Jazza
Frame by frame animation
Frame by frame animation is pretty self explanatory by the name. It's pretty much when you draw your character. And the you draw him again on the next frame, slight,y different. And then draw him again slightly differently, and no on and so forth. There are two different methods to frame by frame animation. I will link a video by Alan Becker for in depth about each of the methods.

Really good videos, they tell about how to make my animations better!
